Our (not so) Secret Mission
When you’ve sat behind a desk all your life, speaking to the public was be a daunting prospect. But it was time to leave the fear behind.
After April’s Trowbridge Weavers Market, we had talked about offering more free samples to anyone that looked a little unsure. After all, it’s lunch, an important decision!
We were blessed with great weather, clear skies and warm sunshine. Our stand was nestled between to two beautiful stands, Freshly Squeezed Lemonade and the amazing guys at Siam Street Food.
But May was a busy month. There were a number of events happening locally at the same time. With lots of our food still available, I thought about leaving the comfort of the fryer and going out front.
Time to be brave, time to leave the fear behind.
Would anyone stop and try a sample?
I was about to get first-hand experience. What if they didn’t like it? How would people react? I hear you can’t please everyone, all of the time.
Our (not so secret) mission is to get everyone to eat more plants, without feeling like they’re missing out, but my immediate goal was to not return home with lots of unsold food.
I must say a huge thank you if you stopped and tried a sample. Our new No Lamb Masala recipe, my grand experiment, went down a storm! Lots of people tried it and the reactions ranged from a pleasant surprise to Earth shattering shock!
I was lapping up all the praise and attention, so glad I did it. People also loved the Roasted Cauliflower curry, kids tended to go for the Keema Curry, probably because it’s a little sweeter than most.
So, I left my literal comfort zone and moved front of house. It’s all a grand experiment, we only learn by doing. We’ve experience so much doubt since its inception, but we are on a mission, and hopefully we changed a few minds about plant-based food,
Thank you to all the volunteers at Trowbridge Weavers Market and Green Top Markets for looking after us. A massive thank you to all our customers for your continued support and to friends and family.
We looked forward to seeing you in June.
Thanks for reading.
